As Good as it Gets

Step 1 of 1

In the north of Scotland is Loch Ness, a 20-mile-long lake famous for being the supposed home of a mythical creature known as the Loch Ness Monster. For many hundreds of years, stories have circulated claiming that a mysterious sea creature has been seen in the lake.
In more recent years, photographs and even video footage of what is said to be the Loch Ness Monster have been released, and detailed scientifc testing has been carried out at Loch Ness in an attempt to verify the existence of “Nessie.”
But in spite of the many claims made as to the existence of the Loch Ness Monster, nobody has been able to prove it exists. Even though there are some who are adamant that the Loch Ness Monster lives in the cool, deep waters of the Scottish lake, it appears to most observers that the Loch Ness Monster simply doesn’t exist.
For thousands of years, there have been claims made about the existence of a place that very few people can claim to have seen. The first book of the Bible refers to heaven, as does the last book of the Bible, Revelation. In fact, heaven is mentioned in the Bible hundreds of times. Does heaven really exist? And if it does, what is it like? As we consult the Bible, we’ll find that what God has planned for us is as good as it gets!screen-shot-2017-01-12-at-11-03-58-am

Is there a place called heaven?

I am the living bread which came down from ________________.
Hint

Jesus certainly believed in a place called heaven! He declared that He came to the world from heaven.
Hint

In the Word of God, “heaven” can refer to the air (where the birds fly), outer space (where the stars are), or to heaven itself, where God dwells.
Hint

God’s people will certainly go to heaven!
Hint

Based on what we read in the Bible, God’s people will “travel” to heaven accompanied by Jesus! While it isn’t easy to understand exactly how this will  look, it seems logical to assume that the redeemed are going to experience intergalactic space travel!
Hint

Try as we might, we can’t even imagine how wonderful heaven will be! Take a moment to think about the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen. Heaven will be better! Your most enjoyable vacation? Better! The most memorable time you’ve ever had? Heaven will be better than that! Although there’s no harm in trying, we simply cannot imagine how truly wonderful heaven is going to be.
Hint

Paul says this individual was caught up to “the third heaven”—the heaven where God dwells. (2 Corinthians 12:2)
Hint

John saw God’s throne, and God Himself—in heaven!
In Daniel 7:9, 10, Daniel describes a vision he received of heaven.
In heaven he saw:
» God the Father (the Ancient of Days)
» God’s clothing (as white as snow)
» God’s hair (like pure wool)
» God’s throne (a fiery fame)
» The wheels of the throne (a burning fire)
» Great multitudes of angels

In Revelation 4, John describes:
» God the Father
» The throne of God
» A rainbow around God’s throne
» The 24 elders
» The sea of glass
Hint

Heaven is the home of the Ark of the Covenant, the sacred repository of the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are in heaven.
Hint

Jesus is in heaven as our High Priest, interceding for us before the Father’s throne. Jesus’ ministry takes place in the heavenly sanctuary, which was built by God. Heaven is where Jesus’ work in the plan of salvation is currently being carried out.
Hint

The New Earth will be the eternal home of God’s saved children. After spending time in heaven, the redeemed will relocate to a re-created planet Earth.
What will the New Earth be like?

And I, John, saw the holy city, New ______________________, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Hint

God will relocate what could be referred to as His capital city from heaven to planet Earth. This once-sinful planet, the home of the fall of humanity and the site of the brutal crucifixion of the Savior of the world—Jesus, the Son of God—is transformed into the eternal abode of not only the redeemed but also of Christ Himself! (Revelation 21:3; 22:3)
Hint

God’s intention—His great desire—is to dwell in the midst of His people for all eternity!
Hint

Both the river of life and the tree of life will be in the New Earth—the forever home of the redeemed!Hint

Discover these remarkable facts about the New Earth that God will make.

And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall ___________ Him.
Hint

Throughout eternity, there will be no sin in the New Earth! Revelation 22:15 lists the types of people who will not be permitted to dwell in the Holy City. In short, those who have not yielded to Jesus and have clung instead to their sin will not be in the Earth made new. Sinners would not be happy spending eternity in the presence of a holy God.

REVELATION 22:4 -- "They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads."
-Not only will we see God face to face, but His character—represented here by His name—will be restored into the minds of His people!-

REVELATION 21:4 -- "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
-Throughout eternity, there will be no sorrow, pain or death. What a future God’s people have to look forward to!-

REVELATION 22:5 -- "There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever."
-There will be no night as the ages of eternity pass. Revelation 21:23 says the glory of the Father and the Son illuminates the New Jerusalem.-
Hint

Heaven will be a place of useful activity, where God’s people will be able to develop talents and skills and use them in constructive ways.
Hint

Isaiah 11:9 says, “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord.”

Heaven will be a place where there is no danger, and animals that are now natural enemies will dwell together in harmony.
Hint

The person who has faith in God will be given the gift of everlasting life, transformed by the power of His grace and prepared for eternity.

Love for God will be manifest in loving obedience toward the One who is willing to save and keep His people for all eternity.
Hint

Jesus promises us that one day soon, He will return to this world and take us to be with Him in heaven!

Through faith in God’s Word, you can have the assurance that heaven is real, that life after life on this earth is going to be full of meaning and purpose, and that the New Earth will be a place of blessing and goodness.

Jesus said that He is in heaven preparing a place for you—right now! (John 14:2, 3) Soon He will return to take us to our glorious heavenly home. You can be confident of your place in heaven simply by accepting Jesus as the Lord of your life—by accepting His offer of free forgiveness of sin and yielding your life unreservedly to Him.Hint

Would you be willing to surrender your life to Jesus now, and ask Him to live His life in you?
